Clean Cali Air = Better Young Lungs

20 years of steep declines in air pollution in Southern California have left children with significantly improved lung function and growth, according to a 2-decade study published in the New England Journal of Medicine by USC scientists.

The study, which followed more than 2,000 children in 5 of the most polluted communities in Southern California, demonstrates that government regulations reducing air pollution in the region have led to measurable improvements in children’s health.
