Obama Connects Climate Change to Health
To convince Americans of how serious climate change really is, President Obama is making it personal by connecting it to physical health—and he’s beefing up his team by drafting Microsoft and Google.
Microsoft's research arm, for example, will develop a prototype for drones that can collect large quantities of mosquitoes, then digitally analyze their genes and pathogens. The goal: to create a system that could provide early warnings about infectious diseases that could break out if climate change worsens.
Obama's effort comes as he works to build support for steps he's taken to curb US emissions, including strict limits on vehicles and power plants, which business and industry oppose.
