Dark Operations in Yemen

Humanitarian aid workers warn that severe fuel shortages accompanying fighting in Yemen are forcing hospitals to close and doctors to conduct surgeries in the dark.

Many private hospitals have shut down already because they were unable to obtain diesel for their generators, while others face imminent closure. The blockade has also prevented the delivery of critical medicines, warned the International Committee of the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières in a joint statement

Separately, a group of 22 leading humanitarian agencies banded together yesterday to warn that their operations are at risk of collapsing abruptly within a week if passages are not opened immediately for fuel and supplies to get through.
