Jarring Juxtaposition

WashPo Wonkblog writer Christopher Ingraham leads his posting by sharing and describing a photo that had been tweeted of the front page of Thursday morning's edition of the Charleston Post & Courier. Pasted smack dab over the headline “Church attack kills 9” is a sticky note-ad that exclaims, "Ladies' Night" at the ATP Gun Shop & Range in Summerville, S.C. "$30 gets you everything!"

This cringe-worthy juxtaposition perfectly captures America’s relationship with guns, writes Ingraham who previously worked at the Brookings Institution and Pew Research Center.

“On the one hand they are implements of murder, contributing to one of the highest firearm homicide rates among the world's wealthy nations. On the other, they're a source of entertainment, sport and self-defense for millions of Americans.”
