Water Crisis in Syria

International relief agencies have stepped up efforts to boost water supplies in war-torn Aleppo, currently in the grip of an intense heat wave.

In recent weeks, power outages have cut off piped water in Syria’s largest city, leading to an increased incidence of waterborne illnesses, especially among children.

Despite the enhanced services, the water crisis has left an estimated 500,000 people struggling to survive.
