Baltimore Latinos Lack Health Care

A lack of affordable health plans for non-citizens is leaving millions of Hispanic immigrants without health insurance nationally.

In East Baltimore alone, thousands are facing this plight—even immigrants like Cecilia Ramirez, who has “lawfully present status,” yet is ineligible for health coverage under any public insurance program.

The Quote: “This is the tricky part for us,” said Leana Wen, Baltimore’s health commissioner. “The Affordable Care Act excludes these individuals … They fall through the cracks.”
