Public appetite for all things organic has taken hold of the US food and drink industry to the tune of $43.3 billion in sales last year alone. Gatorade, a PepsiCo darling, has hopped on the bandwagon, announcing plans to roll out G Organic, a new product made with organically farmed sugarcane.
Unfortunately, aside from the provenance of its sugar, G Organic’s ingredients don’t differ much from those of regular Gatorade. At base, all “sports drinks” are just sugar water with too little of what is truly needed to rehydrate a dehydrated person. Buyers beware.
