An Agenda for Health Equity

Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards helped kick off this year’s American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting in Denver on Saturday with a keynote speech that underlined the conference’s focus on inclusiveness and health equity for all. She named racism, sexism, homophobia and classism as some of the barriers to health, longevity and prosperity.
“Everyone means everyone,” Richards said.
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper also spoke on Saturday, discussing suicide prevention, sexual and reproductive health care, legal marijuana and drug abuse.
