Tracking Progress on Climate Change and Health

Responding to climate change could present “the greatest global health opportunity of the 21st century,” according to The Lancet Countdown research collaboration.

The Countdown details co-benefits such as replacing car travel with biking or walking, which can improve cardiovascular and mental health as well. Tracking 5 focus areas (including the health impacts of climate hazards and health resilience and adaptation), the Countdown provides indicators for a global overview of health and climate change and offers suggestions on the methodologies and datasets available.
