The WHO announced yesterday the 3 finalists vying to become its 8th director-general when Dr. Margaret Chan steps down June 30. They are:
- Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, 51, of Ethiopia, a former health and foreign affairs minister.
- Sania Nishtar, 53, of Pakistan, a former health minister with extensive civil society experience.
- David Nabarro, 67, of Britain, special adviser to the UN secretary general on sustainable development and climate change.
