Mediterraneans Live the Longest

Italy is ranked the healthiest nation in the world by the Bloomberg Global Health Index. Despite a sluggish economy with high debt and slow growth, Italy edged out 163 other developed countries for high life expectancy and a healthy population.
Italians—whose diet staples include readily-accessible fresh vegetables and fruit, lean meats, fish and, of course, olive oil—have lower blood pressure and cholesterol and better overall mental health than those living in the US, Canada and the UK. Italy also has a uniquely high proportion of doctors.
Iceland, Switzerland, Singapore and Australia were also listed in the top 5. The US came in 34th with the superlative of being one of the world’s most overweight countries.

... But, according to the World Happiness Report, Norway ranks the happiest.
