Saving Yemen's Youngest

A campaign backed by UNICEF, the WHO and the World Bank has vaccinated nearly 5 million children under age 5 against polio in war-torn Yemen. The nationwide effort, which launched in February, called on health workers, educators, religious leaders and local officials to help reach as many children as possible, including the internally displaced and residents of remote villages. The campaign also vaccinated more than 369,000 children against measles in Sa’ada governorate.

“This partnership provides continuous support to national health authorities to increase vaccination coverage for vulnerable children across Yemen,” says the WHO’s representative in Yemen, Nevio Zagaria.
