Risky Roads

On the roads of Hyderabad, India, those most at risk of an accident are young, male and riding 2-wheeled motorcycles or scooters, according to an analysis of 5,298 road accident victims at a public hospital in the south Indian city.
Led by the Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit, the 9-month surveillance program found that most accidents were rollovers or skids, according to the study published in Surgery.
India has the highest number of road traffic fatalities in the world—231,027 each year—and the numbers are rising due to increasing population density and motorized vehicles.
