eHealth for Africa

Maximizing technology could make all the difference in bringing universal health care to Africans, said WHO’s Africa Director Matshidiso Moeti at the first WHO Africa Health Forum underway in Rwanda this week.

By teaming up with the International Telecommunication Union and African governments, the WHO will support the large-scale adoption of "eHealth" services—such as telephone helplines, text message appointment reminders, remote patient monitoring, electronic health registers, online learning, and tapping social media for messaging.
