We Probably Won't Always Have Paris

Word on the street is that President Trump is leaning toward pulling the US will out of the landmark Paris climate agreement this afternoon, the Washington Post reports.

Trump vowed during the campaign to withdraw the US from the Paris agreement, but the move would risk damaging global alliances and energizing environmentalists against him, according to the Post.

White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and EPA administrator Scott Pruitt have spent months persuading Trump to pull out of the agreement while Ivanka Trump and others were in the “remain” camp, according to an insider-y Politico story.

If Trump moves ahead as expected, the US (the world’s second-largest emitter of greenhouse gases) joins Nicaragua and Syria as the only countries not part of the 2015 accord, the Post noted.
