Many more women in Burma now have reliable access to contraceptives thanks to the Reproductive Health Commodity Logistics System (RHC-LS).

Piloted in 2014 to better meet contraceptive need, the UNFPA-supported system shifted the logistics strategy from a “push” system of centrally estimated quotas, to a “pull” system that distributes supplies based on local demand. As a result, the number of health facilities reporting adequate stock rose from 4% to 39% during the past 2 years.

By the end of 2016, the system had expanded to 72 townships, 6 states and is expected to reach the rest of the country by 2018.
