E-Cig Campaign

The FDA on Tuesday announced plans to launch a campaign this fall to discourage electronic cigarette use among US youth, with plans for a full-scale campaign in 2018. This initiative follows last month’s proposal to lower nicotine in cigarettes and gives e-cigarette companies more time—4 years—to gain authorization to sell new and existing products.

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb says the new policy “aims to strike a careful balance between the regulation of all tobacco products, and the opportunity to encourage development of innovative tobacco products that may be less dangerous than combustible cigarettes.”
