DKT México, an NGO focused on promoting contraception and preventing HIV in Latin America and the Caribbean, is infusing its educational efforts with humor and fun—and finding a receptive teenage audience.

The organization’s campaign to promote contraception has a robust and entertaining social media presence, with more than 1.1 million Facebook followers. Another component of the campaign, DKT School, has delivered messages on contraception and reproductive health to 250,000 students since February 2016.

DKT’s newfound success stands in contrast to the group’s previous family planning efforts, which were medically focused, serious in tone, and unsuccessful in building a teen audience.
