Tom Price’s Swan Song

President Trump’s health secretary is out, but his legacy looks poised to endure.
Before resigning last week, Tom Price drafted a 5-year plan for the $1.1 trillion Health and Human Services agency that emphasizes the work of faith groups and favors language used by anti-abortion groups. It also nixes obligations to the Affordable Care Act and shifts focus away from the needs of minority Americans, both central to Obama’s plan.
Less controversially, the plan promises to boost medical research and scientific data, improve vaccination rates and zero in on the opioid epidemic.
The draft plan is open for public comment until October 27.
