More women and girls—309.3 million—in 69 focus countries are using modern contraception methods as of July 2017, according to Family Planning 2020’s new progress report.
That’s 38.8 million more than in 2012, and an approximate 30% increase above the historical trend. Almost half of the new users live in Africa, reports the group, which works to build country-led partnerships to improve access to contraception.
