Environment Tops Davos Risk List
Environmental concerns climbed higher on the list of top risks outlined by business and political leaders surveyed ahead of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland next week.
Steadily replacing worries over economic collapse emphasized in prior years, 3 of the 5 risks cited for the annual survey related to the environment: extreme weather, natural disasters, and failure to mitigate climate change.
The Quote: “We have been pushing our planet to the brink and the damage is becoming increasingly clear,” the WEF says in the report. “A trend towards nation-state unilateralism may make it more difficult to sustain the long-term, multilateral responses that are required to counter global warming and the degradation of the global environment.”
