Relentless Hell

“Catastrophic” doesn’t begin to describe the horrific siege on 13 medical facilities in Syria’s East Ghouta.

In recent days, aerial bombardments have killed at least 260 civilians and injured over 600, reports the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS). So far this year, East Ghouta has seen 29 health care attacks, 9 health workers killed, and 3 chemical attacks.

An international community that “expressed outrage and horror” at Aleppo’s bombardment “is watching it happen all over again,” said SAMS president Ahmad Tarakji. An interagency aid convoy last week left woefully-insufficient food and medical supplies, and didn’t evacuate any of the 765 patients needing urgent treatment.
