Dybul's Grave Funding Forecast

The HIV/AIDS epidemic risks spinning out of control if current funding trends continue, according to Mark Dybul, a founding architect of PEPFAR.

The global campaign against HIV/AIDS spurred a 23% drop in cases since 2005, but we now run the “highest risk ever of losing control of the epidemic,” with PEPFAR and The Global Fund “pretty much all that’s left” in terms of external financing, he said. Dybul’s grave forecast came as a major University of Washington report found HIV/AIDS development assistance has dropped 5.4% a year since 2012. The comprehensive health spending study tracked funding by disease in 188 countries.
