Ebola's Lingering Damage

Sierra Leone Ebola survivors suffer from a broad range of disorders, including stroke and debilitating migraine-type headaches, according to a study in Emerging Infectious Diseases focused on post-Ebola syndrome.
"We knew that a disease as severe as Ebola would leave survivors with major problems—however, it took me aback to see young and previously active people who had survived but were now unable to move half their bodies, or talk, or pick up their children,” said Janet Scott, who led the University of Liverpool’s Post Ebola Syndrome project. The findings point to a need for more case-controlled studies, the researchers said.
