Yemen: All Parties Accountable for Unconscionable Crimes

The UN issued a report this week indexing a horrific list of alleged international war crimes committed by “all factions” involved in Yemen’s ongoing violent conflict.

Liability for the UN’s catalogue of “the world’s worst humanitarian crisis”—from airstrikes targeting weddings and medical facilities, to enlisting of children as young as 8, rape and torture of detainees by government forces, and some 22 million people in dire need of aid—rests with Yemen’s government and all other parties involved with the conflict, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Further investigation, including scrutiny of US involvement, will be required.
