Eating Away at Climate Change

Say goodbye to burgers, and hello to fruit and veg. The global population could top 10 billion by midcentury. To feed the swelling population and ease our burden on the environment, we must overhaul what we eat as well as slash emissions, according to a report published Wednesday in Nature. The findings follow a sobering UN climate report pushing for unprecedented changes to curb climate change.

Half of the globe’s ice-free land is used to grow livestock or animal feed. If we don’t massively curb meat consumption in favor of a more plant-based diet, the report found, we stand little chance of beating climate change.
