When Pro-Vaccine Sources Are Drowned Out

A third of US parents don’t plan to vaccinate their children against the flu this year, according to a new report from Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.

1,977 parents surveyed found an “echo chamber” surrounding the flu vaccine, AJC reported. Most parents who planned to vaccinate their kids got their guidance from health care providers. But those foregoing the vax reported hearing from 7 times more anti-vax sources as pro-vax sources.

North Carolina, where many families forego vaccines under religious exemptions, is seeing its worst chickenpox outbreak since a vaccine was introduced 2 decades ago, according to the Washington Post.

In Japan, 2018 rubella cases are slated to top 2,000 for the first time in almost 5 years, spurred by unvaccinated men aged 30+, the South China Morning Post reported.
