Cute Enough to Crush

Have you ever seen something—a kitten, a baby, a puppy—so adorable you just want to … punch it?
You may be among a subset of people who experience “cute aggression.”
The condition has no doubt reached pandemic levels in the era of viral animal videos. And researchers have dug deep on the topic, finding that aggression may simply be a defense mechanism against being completely incapacitated by cuteness.
Turns out we’re hardwired to prefer cute things (e.g., bunnies and babies). One study found that people even prefer cars with big headlights to more adult-looking vehicles.
