SOTU Homes in on Health

Like his predecessors, President Trump used last night’s State of the Union address to make a major health-related announcement, Vox reported.

Headlining a laundry list of health points was a pledge to end HIV transmission in the US by 2030. “Scientific breakthroughs have brought a once-distant dream within reach,” Trump said of the plan.

It’s an achievable goal if Trump—who took a year to replace the HIV/AIDS advisory council he fired last year—reverses course on policies, such as those that attack the Affordable Care Act, Quartz reported.
