Failed Response to a Fake Epidemic

Liberia is not prepared for Ebola’s return, according to the country’s chief medical officer Francis Kateh.

A recent Ebola simulation reported cases at health facilities in 3 counties to test resilience and preparedness for another epidemic. Liberia didn’t make the grade, earning an ‘F’ with “lots of missteps at various areas,” Kateh said.

Authorities pledge to deliver refresher trainings for health workers.

Across all 3 counties, the lack of essential drugs, personal protective equipment and ambulance services hampered response efforts.

The simulation is a reminder to “wake up and practice the right things” said Adolphus Yeiah, health officer for Bong county.
