Juul and Jury

North Carolina is suing Juul Labs for allegedly deceiving the public about the dangers of nicotine and for aggressively marketing vapes to young people. The state is now the first to take legal action against the vaping giant.

The complaint seeks to go further than FDA guidelines that restrict some flavors but allow menthol, tobacco and mint.

North Carolina wants mint, mango, cucumber and other popular flavors pulled from shelves in the state, online sales limited to tobacco and menthol, and a crackdown on Juul’s marketing.

For its part, Juul said it took “the most aggressive actions of anyone in the industry to combat youth usage.”
