Texas Lawmaker Takes Vaccine Jabs to Twitter

Yesterday Texas lawmaker Jonathan Stickland railed against leading vaccine scientist Peter Hotez, accusing him of “sorcery” and “self enriching ‘science’” on Twitter, The Washington Post reports.

Hotez had tweeted his concerns in light of a new report that found more Texas parents are foregoing vaccinations for their kids.

Hotez hit back: “I don't take a dime from the vaccine industry. I develop neglected disease vaccines for the world's poorest people.”

A Dallas News editorial firmly took a side: “When it comes to protecting our children from deadly disease, we’re going with Hotez.”

Vaccine misinformation has even divided the Kennedy dynasty. 3 of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s relatives called him out in POLITICO for stoking vaccine misinformation. “We love Bobby,” they wrote. But “his and others’ work against vaccines is having heartbreaking consequences.”
