Home to almost 70% of people living with HIV, sub-Saharan Africa has seen progress toward eliminating mother-to-child transmission. But new infections among children remain high, as do rates of unplanned pregnancy among HIV-positive women—while modern contraceptive prevalence is just 28%.

To achieve these twin goals, successful integration of strategies are key—but what does the nebulous term “integration” really mean, and what does it look like in practice?
