Doctors Arrested in WHO Official's Death

3 Congolese doctors have been arrested for planning attacks on Ebola treatment centers in DRC, including the attack that killed Cameroonian epidemiologist Richard Mouzoko in April in Butembo.

A prosecutor said that militiamen involved in the attacks pointed their fingers—under interrogation—at 4 doctors for organizing the raids. 3 of the doctors are now in custody; the fourth is at large.

The prosecutor didn't provide details or a possible motive.

The Butembo branch of Congo’s national doctor’s council expressed indignance over the arrests, saying they “were crippling vital medical services in the area.” It threatened to launch a strike if the doctors are not released on bail.
