Trapped in Microstraits

Wealthy, conservative European microstates like Monaco and San Marino—born of antiquated politics—are among the last in the EU without abortion rights.

Political leaders claim that abortion rights represent larger threats to fragile sovereignty.

In Liechtenstein, women won the right to vote in 1984 and divorce wasn't legalized in Andorra until 1995. Abortion rights may be a long way off.
