US Plan to Import Meds Strains Canadian Goodwill

There’s a problem with US President Trump’s new plan giving states, wholesalers, and pharmacies a green light to import cheaper drugs from Canada: Canadians are not on board.
They say it will exacerbate their own drug shortage. Health officials and industry reps will meet today to plan a response; export controls, new law, and tariffs or taxes are all on the table.
The Quote: “You are coming as Americans to poach our drug supply, and I don’t have any polite words for that,” says University of Ottawa’s Amir Attaran, calling the plan “deplorable” and “atrociously unethical.” “Our drugs are not for you, period.”
