Millennial Mothers of Color Find Joy ... and Solutions

In her aptly titled piece, “This isn’t another horror story about black motherhood,” Helena Andrews-Dyer highlights efforts by millennial mothers of color to fight the disparities that make it so dangerous for black women to give birth.
She describes the exhausting work of being a mother of color in 2019 beyond staying hydrated: "There are studies to digest, articles forwarded by your best friend on C-section rates to read, summits to attend on combating implicit bias, and doctors to screen for implicit bias.”
Yet, moms of color are finding comfort and comradery in attending conferences like “Momference,” in DC, and advancing legislation in Congress.
