Mystery Illness Plagues Vapers

More than 200 people have arrived at emergency rooms across the country with vaping-connected respiratory illnesses, prompting the CDC to issue a health alert on Friday.

Patients have severe shortness of breath, often following days of vomiting, fever and fatigue, forcing some to spend weeks in intensive care or on a ventilator.

Epidemiologists are trying to learn if a toxin has contaminated vaping cartridges or if there’s another cause.

The CDC warned the public not to buy off-the-street vaping products or to add substances like cannabinoids to the products.
