Doctors' Secret Service

Medical professionals in Hong Kong are secretly treating hundreds of anti-government protestors, helping them avoid public hospitals where they fear arrest.

Government hospital medics helped found and run the Hidden Clinic. Injured protestors send the network texts and images of gaping wounds, broken bones, tear gas exposure, and get referrals for further treatment and help with medical costs.

As protests ramp up, injuries are getting more severe.

Pervasive mistrust makes it difficult to nail down the scope of these clandestine clinics. The secret services also suggest the official injury count—which includes police officer injuries—is underestimated.
