More Muscle Needed to Curb Measles

The DRC’s measles outbreak death toll has passed 6,000, spurring the WHO to call on countries to step up assistance.
It is the world’s worst measles epidemic, with more 310,000 suspected cases reported since early 2019. Complicating the response: The country's simultaneous Ebola outbreak, weak public health systems, and insecurity.
More than 18 million children under 5 have been vaccinated, but coverage remains low in some areas.

The WHO says they need $40 million—on top of $27 million already raised—for a 6-month vaccination plan for kids under 14.
