Pneumonia Mystery Points to Coronavirus

China’s mysterious pneumonia outbreak was triggered by a new coronavirus—the virus family behind a wide range of illnesses from the common cold to SARS, Chinese scientists announced yesterday amid an ongoing investigation,AP reports.
The 2002-2003 SARS outbreak that began in Asia killed hundreds; another coronavirus, MERS, has killed 851 people since 2012.
But researchers believe this latest strain isn’t as dangerous, CNN reports.
The new coronavirus was found in 15 of the 57 patients with the illness in Wuhan, where investigators believe a new strain may have emerged from  workers in a market selling wild game.
Several patients have recovered, and no deaths or signs of human-to-human transmission have been reported.
