WHO: Escalating Violence Goes Unnoticed

Escalating violence has triggered an “unprecedented” mass exodus of Syrians, raising grave concerns about access to health care and the spread of diseases.

Hundreds of thousands of Syrians have been forced to flee since the start of December which, coupled with violence, has upended the WHO’s already-fragile vaccination network.

Since 2020 began, 2 deadly attacks on health care have been verified; 53 health facilities have been forced to suspend services.

Adding to the horror: “The enormous humanitarian needs are being largely ignored by the international media and governments,” said regional emergency director Rick Brennan.
