Doctors Outside the Borders

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons is a litigious fringe group of about 5,000 doctors that believes in “private medicine.”

“We have opposed attempts to intrude government and other third parties between the patients and the physicians,” says executive director Jane Orient. But AAPS’s theories about what medicine should look like don’t address current problems in the system like medical debt or pricing

AAPS sued to overturn the Affordable Care Act and claimed that moves to remove anti-vax content from digital media were censorship. The group also perpetuates misinformation like questioning vaccine safety and linking abortion to higher cancer risks.
