Fake medicines and supplies are flooding developing countries amid the COVID-19 crisis, and it could spur a “parallel pandemic” of counterfeit products.
 
Since the pandemic was declared, a global pharmaceutical crimes police unit has seized tens of thousands of counterfeit products including face masks and medicines purporting to cure the coronavirus. 
 
Amid lockdowns in China and India—the world’s top 2 producers of medical supplies—demand is spiraling while production is seriously scaled back.
