Celluloid Cat Dreams
Cat videos? We prefer Feline Films, thank you very much.
After years relegated to the “low-brow internet distractions” cat-egory, these works of art are finally getting their much-deserved regard as real cinema, thanks to the “Quarantine Cat Film Festival.”
The submissions are an emotional rollercoaster: A “chat noir” catapults across a room. Another does battle with an empty bag of chips. In a desperate search for milk, a white fluff-ball squeezes its head into a glass. In one touching moment, a brown tabby relishes in the joy of being gently vacuumed.
Ticket sales—which unlock downloads of the film—benefit independent cinemas forced to shutter during the pandemic.
