Good Luck Getting an Abortion in Texas
For years, Texas laws have scaled back access to low-cost abortion and reproductive health services, making access increasingly difficult for Latinx women.
For much of April, the state had a near-total ban on abortions, deemed “non-essential” amid the pandemic.
The 2013 HB2 law—which affected more Hispanic women than any other demographic—shuttered most Texas abortion clinics before being overturned by the Supreme Court.
Latinx women seeking abortions also encounter “very intense stigma” and even fake clinics designed to divert them from abortion services.
