N95s’ Biggest Competition is Available on Amazon

Is there a viable alternative to the gold-standard N95 mask?

In the Harvard Business Review, researchers recommend a clear favorite: The elastomeric N95 which they say is just as effective as N95s, but reusable, ultimately less expensive, and easier to fit properly without special training.

Crucially, they are not yet in short supply, but the US Defense Production Act should be leveraged to ramp up production, they recommend.

Another Plus: eN95s have already passed muster with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

Major Drawback: Many eN95s have an exhale valve that doesn’t filter air breathed out by the wearer.
