From Denmark to Northern California

The coronavirus mutation first discovered in Denmark is now whipping through Northern California, reaching nursing homes, jails, and a hospital, officials confirmed Sunday night.
 
Officials are investigating whether it may be more transmissible after genetic monitoring found that the variant—different from the one discovered in the UK—was linked to a large share of the latest cases in the San Jose area.
