Plague in the DRC
A bubonic plague outbreak is spreading in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, UNICEF reports.
Ituri province in northeastern DRC has seen almost 300 cases since August, including 27 deaths.
Adolescents appear most at-risk, making up 78.9% of illnesses, according to a memo from EcoHealth Alliance.
The region hosts some 47,000 internally displaced refugees from South Sudan, whose movement between the 2 countries raises concern about a regional outbreak.
