It’s the question on everyone’s lips: Who won Science’s 14th annual “Dance Your Ph.D.” contest, mastering a coveted crossover between science and art?
Call them The Geek-stie Boys.
A trio of University of Helsinki atmospheric scientists “Finn-ished” strong (sorry!) with a hip-hop rendition of “how groups of atoms stick together to form the billowy shapes in our sky.”
- The “scientific cluster” toiled for 2 months to make a piece “full of sick burns like ‘I’m the first author, you’re just et al.’” OUCH!
The winner of the COVID category was decidedly more elegant.
- Scientist-ballerina Heather Masson-Forsythe at Oregon State University, Corvallis dreamt up a piece in which “she becomes the virus’ different proteins, spinning and moving erratically.”
